So my mom had her birthday (I would be put to death if I listed her age) on April 24th. She called me the weekend before and asked if I could drive up for a party. It was a little unexpected since other plans had been made for Aaron to visit me, but in the end my mom always wins...
She wouldn't tell me what was going on, which meant she had spent a good amount of time setting up some devious plan for all of us. After doing a little investigative work (hey, it's my job - seriously) I got information that a bounce house may be there. Yes, that isn't a misprint, she really got a bounce house. Here are a few reasons I was surprised - there are only four little kids (and actually one lives in California so he wouldn't be there) and the rest of us are adults; oh and we have never had a bounce house before.
It was great! We bounced (when the adult boys weren't acting crazy and attempting to kill each other) and had a grand old time. We also played some fun games - put the nose on the face (my mom's version of pin the tail on the donkey), bubble blowing contests (with bubbles, not bubble gum), and musical catchphrase (although not many of us can hum or whistle).

The Bon Jovi
Road trips are always fun. I have to admit that I have not been on as many as I would like, but the ones I have been on were amazing. This one was another amazing trip. Anna and I set off for Denver bright and early (ok, 10:00ish) on Sunday. The drive was long and tiresome - but isn't that what road trips consist of?! The landscape was just "breathtaking" - seriously, it was sage brush for a good chunk.
The hotel was FANTASTIC! Oh my gosh, these beds were perfect, with duvets - seriously, duvets! None of those nasty synthetic bedspreads that should have been burned years and years ago. (This is a hint to all those hotels with nasty bedspreads, we don't want them, burn them all now!) With loads of pillows covering the bed. I'm still drooling over the plushness.... Anna's dad can book me a room anytime he would like.
Denver was cold! Although I enjoy complaining about 'old' St George, I have to admit the weather is great. And I do not like the cold and enjoy whining about it. And we were a tad disappointed by the shopping - not even a good jewelry store to be had. Nice big art museum, wait it's closed on Mondays - what?! I did get a nice picture of the outside art....

Then came THE BON JOVI! Months of waiting had finally paid off. And it was AMAZING. Yes, I will say it again, AMAZING. I do love the Bon Jovi. The seats were higher than we would have preferred, but nobody was behind us, so that gave us the right to stand up and sing, dance, cheer, for as long as we wanted. Drunken moms and gropers, but that just added to the entertainment. And the tall man knowing all the words and singing them as loud as he could.... oh the joy! And damn, isn't he sexy?!
Then we packed up (after spending another night in that fabulous hotel) and made the long trip home. Oh, and Aspen sucked. Seriously, who made those roads and parking lots?! At least the grocery store had a bathroom!
