Alone

My mom went to Washington for the week with my dad. So that left Aaron and I home alone - which is totally fine with us (and actually we like it that way!) Then Aaron had to work the graveyard shift..... which then left me all alone.

Now, I have lived alone numerous times, and I am completely fine with it (and I actually like it) - when I have mentally prepared myself. This instance was a surprise and I didn't even realize I needed to calm my crazy imagination.

So instead of doing my deep breathing exercises, I chose to watch Criminal Minds.... which consists of FBI agents tracking serial killers. Yep, all the murders and scary stuff right before heading to bed. Then this led to me imagining all the ways someone could break into the house and murder me. (Which included climbing in the windows.... so I had to wander around and make sure all were closed. And I checked the doors at least twice - if not more).

Oh, and my parents house creaks. And it isn't just like it is settling, it is some loud cracking noise and it happens all over the house. So as I lay in bed imagining all the ways I will be murdered and then hear loud noises, I know I won't sleep at all.
So I turned on a nice happy movie to calm myself.... but it didn't work and then the loud creaking noises were back and I swear I heard someone walking in the hall....

Damn Graduate School... it might not have made me this way, but it sure added to the craziness!

Pain...

Work has been EXTREMELY slow lately. There haven't been any new cases for three weeks (generally we get 2-4 cases a week). Now, I know I complain when there is too much work, but in all actuality I prefer being busy rather than being bored. And for someone who is obsessively compulsive about getting their paperwork done quickly - the lack of work is almost painful. The only upside to this entire situation is at least nobody is beating their children.

Two weeks ago I took two days off because I didn't have any work. This week my boss offered for Wendy and I to take some time off again. The problem with that is I have to use my annual leave and that pisses me off. When I use annual leave I want to go on some glorious vacation - not just sit at home watching television.

So I choose to sit at my desk for ten hours straight searching the Internet. Which is a problem because then I find things to buy (and we all know I don't get paid enough to shop daily) and my eyes bug out from staring at a computer screen for so long. Let me just say, surfing the Internet for 10 hours is not enjoyable. There is only so much blog-stalking, entertainment news gathering, and shopping one can handle in a week (let alone three weeks!)

Am I being phased out? Because I don't care who you are, I don't believe there isn't someone out there beating their child. It is just common nature these days (sad, but true!)

Comeback tour?

Are pipes making a comeback? Or have I been so focused on school, work, tv, and sleep that I haven't taken the time to notice?

Because I have seen two (one was weird enough, but two?!) men driving down the freeway with a pipe hanging out of their mouth. And yes, they were wearing the old man hat that is synonymous with a pipe. It was just plain strange!

Worse, both men were driving stupid and in my way so I made lots of angry sounds and yelled at them..... then stared with my mouth hanging open at the pipe.

I'm really wondering if someone is playing a joke on me. First the toothbrush incident, now two pipes... I can't even imagine what will be next.

New....

I got new shoes! Which really isn't that rare for me, but these are shoes that I have coveted for years.....yes, years! I found them for only $70 (yes, $70 needs the only in front because normally they are $130 - so I almost got them half off!) The purchase of them severely depeleted my shopping in Vegas (baby!) fund, but it was totally worth it.

I have been wandering the hallways at work because I LOVE these shoes so much and want to enjoy every minute wearing them. I might have to sleep in them......

Thanks Anna for forcing me to buy them!

Rise Above

My big brother finally (his words, not mine) graduated. I waited and waited for the group to stand up and show their "Phoenix" pride - with some arm flapping and ka-ka-ing - but it didn't happen.

The pictures are terrible (mostly because some stupid girl made us leave our nice cushy seats and sit in the beyond nose bleed section) but you get the idea.

Congratulations!

The Land of Misfit Toys

Anyone that knows me well, knows that I have a hard time focusing. Especially when there are a lot of people to watch, one of my favorite past times. This is why Anna and I are friends... our teams grow every time we get together.

So it should come as no surprise that attending church in the Land of Misfit Toys (thanks Cynthia) causes me to learn nothing. I am so distracted by the congregation (misfits) that I miss half (ok, really more like 90%) of the meeting. And this was even more verified when the girl next to me asked me a question and I just stared and said I had no idea what was even being discussed.

And to show you it isn't all my fault, here is some of the eye-catchingness behaviors....

One girl took off her shoes - which is not appropriate in any public setting. I was mostly disgusted in this one to the point of wanting to get up and leave.

Another girl was putting lotion on her elbows. Not her hands (which doesn't really bother me much) but her dry, crusty elbows.

Another girl must have had a rough night, because she wore her sunglasses throughout the meeting. And the class was being held in an inside room without any windows, so the sunlight was not a factor. (And she has done this more than once).

And my most favorite is the girl who wears the spring shoes. (Sorry dad, but they really are sad looking. And at least you wear yours with pants so they are kind of hidden). Hers happen to be black lace up spring shoes, and she wore a peach colored jumper with them. Not awesome! (On a side note, she decided to come to class 30 minutes late and then wanted to sit next to me. Being a larger girl, with a small aisle, she tried to "squeeze" past me which wasn't feasible. In the end her spring shoes stepped all over my feet and her peach jumper was all up in my business. It was not a pretty sight, and her apologies really didn't make me feel better).
