Lazy Days...

Sometimes you just need to lay around and do nothing....

Abra-Ca-Sexy!

Vegas (baby!) in June is HOT! And everyone broke Anna's no crack policy, boobs or butt.

The question is, who doesn't need an Armadillo purse?
Gazed at Barry Manilow while laying poolside (due to a bio-hazard in the pool).
Everyone knows I love to get my drink on..... (Diet Pepsi, yum!)
And since I drank so much I thought I lost my mind and Elvis had shrunk... nope he was definitely a midget Elvis. Only in Vegas!
Gold statue man, who tried to hit on me when I took a picture.... creepy.
Silver man.... way less creepy.
And The People's Diva.... Who'd've thunk she had such a mouth?!
The smiles are due to our dumbfoundedness at the use of Jazzies during the show. Seriously!
We got a quick song from Billy Idol

And a normal size (although poorly replicated) Elvis. He could sing and move his hips, so whatever.
Then I finished the night off with a quick hug from Barry. You know he can't smile......

It was a quick two day trip. We walked a lot, shopped a lot, bought a little, slept some, sweat buckets, rode several monorails, and relaxed plenty.

and counting...

So I didn't even realize, but my little blog here has reached the double digits. If I was paying attention I would have celebrated at 100, but we all know I'm oblivious at times. This just happens to be one of those times.
So happy
121
to me!
I think I'll have myself a piece of cake (or pie, yum!)

Some light housework

Not sure if you need something to do, but here's an idea...

Pull up a banana chair.... they really are quite comfortable!

and sit and watch the house next door get demolished? re-vamped? re-stored? re-modeled? (Really I'm not sure if it can be any of those things... it was in a sad state and should probably just have been torn down, but whatever).

Whatever happens, it will be quite the show. Almost up there with The Best Show on Earth just without all the wild animals (at least I hope there aren't wild animals, I already have a crazy imagination that assists in my insomnia, I don't need anything else).

rain, rain, go away....

.....don't come back any more days!

For (at least) the last two weeks this is what the skies have looked like.

We get a nice glimpse of the sun for a few hours, just to tease, then back comes the rain. And it isn't just some rain, it is buckets of rain pouring on you and soaking everything in sight. (Not always the best thing when you leave the sunroof tilted open..... but it was HOT when I went to church and there wasn't a single cloud in the sky... then the rumbling started mid-way through sacrament meeting and my mind thought - it will be so much fun to ride home sitting on wet seats. But you know I wasn't going to get up and walk out of the chapel IN FRONT OF EVERYONE to close the stupid thing).
(On a selfish note...) Yeah for me and the fabulous Anna for deciding she absolutely needed a weekend away - which led to us jumping on a plane and flying to Vegas (baby!)
P.S. I know you are all jealous and I will take lots of pictures of the sun and pool we will spend the entire time laying next to and jumping in. Oh, and we will go see this fabulous act and of course get some retail therapy.

Who needs the sun?

Just because it has been raining for the last month, (seriously, I lived in St George last year, this weather is giving me some severe seasonal depression). we couldn't pass up a delicious summer treat.

A triple.... 1 scoop raspberry, 2 scoops chocolate.... pure satisfaction!

Crafty... part two

So the last crafty post was actually written over a month ago, but I didn't ever take pictures of those fabulous socks. So now I have finished another pair of socks and the fancy hat I mentioned.
Here's my handiwork...

The socks are really kind of sad looking, but they are wearable and I made them, so that is all that matters. I didn't check my gauge so I deserve to have funky looking socks. Maybe this will teach me a lesson (which every pattern I have ever used has in bold CAPITAL letters, but that doesn't seem to grab my attention!)

The hat gave me a great introduction to lace patterns. And I love hats, so I'm sure this one will get plenty of wear.

And just because I wasn't having enough fun and staying busy knitting, I whipped this little beauty up. It actually only took me a couple hours to finish. Hopefully it won't be too big for my cute little niece come winter (because it is definitely too big now, but who wants a knit hat to wear in the summer? Although we really haven't reached summer here yet..... stupid rain!)

Grace period?

I'm off probation! So now they can't fire me just because they feel like it. Which really has been a big worry of mine since the economy has gone to crap (I would've used a more colorful word, but am in such a good mood I will just let you imagine it) and the State budget is getting cut to pieces.

I will hold off doing something completely stupid for at least a month or so, in case there is a grace period (not sure if "grace" was the right word, but I used it anyway) after probation. Which could definitely be a possibility since I have worked for the State for almost nine years and just got off probation. I know, the math doesn't seem to work for me either.

I think I will celebrate by leaving work and buying myself something pretty.

Crafty...

I've been trying to get my craft-on again. I made a quick pair of booties for my friend Tara's little girl. She asked me way back when she was pregnant if I could knit Mary Jane style booties. It only took me until Olivia was six months old to get them done.

I then decided I would whip up some pajama pants for my nephews for their birthdays. Since they both love Cars (and I couldn't find any Buzz Lightyear material) it was pretty easy. And with the leftover fabric I decided Tara's little boy, Howie, (who loves Cars as well) deserved something too. This is his pair and from what I heard I am now his favorite person ever!

I also made some St Patrick's day pajama's for the nephews, but didn't get a picture. And Stinky Pete chose Tinkerbell for her pj's (although I only finished them last weekend).

And lastly, I have officially finished knitting one pair of socks. They aren't the most attractive things, but they are done and I can announce that I know how to knit socks. Which really is huge, because before now I've only knit one sock - not a pair - and I refused to do the other because I was so annoyed with the first one. I did knit some toddler socks, but they weren't a pair because the pattern suggested using a different color for each sock so I didn't mix them up while knitting. The problem with that is I never knit another set of the random socks. And don't let the knitting world fool you - socks are HARD! And if I hadn't found this book I don't think I would have attempted socks again.

Now I'm going to try a hat with a leaf lace pattern. Look at me being all adventurous (with my knitting at least!)

Lucky?

This is what I got to see for most of my drive back to Salt Lake. I headed right for the pot of gold at the bottom and the damn leprechaun had stolen it. I knew little, short, green men could not be trusted! (Or any man?!)

Mirrors

A few weeks ago I went to the drive-in with my brother's family. There are very few drive-in's left in the world... which is only kind of sad. Mostly because drive-in's tend to attract the crazies. Now, I know about white trash. I have spent more hours than I care to admit in with the white trash. I have been in their homes. I have conversed with them and even pretended to like them. All in the name of social work. But when I'm on my own time, I prefer to avoid the trash. (Except at the races, I know exactly what I am getting into when I attend any form of car racing. I still love it!)

Anyway, first of all, the place was packed. And of course there are the random idiots that drive up and down the aisles thinking they will find some magical parking spot. Hello, nobody else parked there because it sucked and you can't see the screen - but keep trying and annoying the rest of us with your car lights while we are trying to enjoy the movie.

And then you have the smokers. I have made this rant before, but I still hate trying to enjoy myself and then being blasted with a mouthful of smoke. It just isn't fun for anyone!

But the best is the idea that going to the drive-in gives people free reign to where whatever they want. Children in pajamas is one thing, parents in pajamas is an entirely different story. I'm all for a good pair of lounge pants, but when your pants are from the late 90's (I know this because they are so worn out you probably should have thrown them away at least five years ago) and are covered with The Simpson's characters, you place yourself in the position to be mocked. So I will continue to mock you as long as I feel necessary.

And next time you decide to leave the house, please check the mirror and make sure everything is color-coordinated. Wouldn't want you to miss-match or anything.

Eighty

My grandpa turned 80 last week. I can't even imagine being 80 and I still wonder if his math is off because 80 is OLD and he doesn't seem old to me.

I happen to be his only granddaughter, so that has always given me an advantage with him. I never like to admit I am spoiled, but I definitely was the favorite. The best memory I have of my grandpa was being young and standing on his toes while we danced around. All my life he worked hard and wore khaki - khaki shirts and khaki pants (I'm sure he would have worn khaki shoes if he found some!)

In the last couple of years he has slowed down a lot, but he still seems to do more than expected. He has a fabulous garden and has made a ton of wooden cars, trains, and trucks.

He has always been a quiet man and true to form only requested a barbecue in the backyard to celebrate this momentous occasion.

Mmmm..... meatballs!

I did my big sister duty and went to Aaron's soccer game. Just to be honest, part of my reasoning for going was because I could sit out in the sun and work on my tan. Which ended up being more of a burn on my face and neck - I seriously had some tomato face issues for a few days (which happily included the clown nose and raccoon eyes).
The game was actually really good and I spent almost the entire time paying attention rather than people watching. They won - which really is all that matters in the end!

Then Aaron and I went to get some mmmm..... meatballs. We've been talking about Moochies meatballs for weeks and finally found the time to go. The sandwich was HUGE (but I didn't spill one drop on my shirt - yeah me!) and delicious. Aaron went against everything and ordered a Philly Cheesesteak. He loved it, but knew he would regret missing out on the meatballs.... You know they were first introduced to the world in 32AD by Jesus (according to the world of Aaron).
