Abra-Ca-Sexy!
And a normal size (although poorly replicated) Elvis. He could sing and move his hips, so whatever.
It was a quick two day trip. We walked a lot, shopped a lot, bought a little, slept some, sweat buckets, rode several monorails, and relaxed plenty.
and counting...

Some light housework
Whatever happens, it will be quite the show. Almost up there with The Best Show on Earth just without all the wild animals (at least I hope there aren't wild animals, I already have a crazy imagination that assists in my insomnia, I don't need anything else).

rain, rain, go away....
For (at least) the last two weeks this is what the skies have looked like.

Crafty... part two
Here's my handiwork...
The socks are really kind of sad looking, but they are wearable and I made them, so that is all that matters. I didn't check my gauge so I deserve to have funky looking socks. Maybe this will teach me a lesson (which every pattern I have ever used has in bold CAPITAL letters, but that doesn't seem to grab my attention!)
The hat gave me a great introduction to lace patterns. And I love hats, so I'm sure this one will get plenty of wear.
And just because I wasn't having enough fun and staying busy knitting, I whipped this little beauty up. It actually only took me a couple hours to finish. Hopefully it won't be too big for my cute little niece come winter (because it is definitely too big now, but who wants a knit hat to wear in the summer? Although we really haven't reached summer here yet..... stupid rain!)

Grace period?
I will hold off doing something completely stupid for at least a month or so, in case there is a grace period (not sure if "grace" was the right word, but I used it anyway) after probation. Which could definitely be a possibility since I have worked for the State for almost nine years and just got off probation. I know, the math doesn't seem to work for me either.
I think I will celebrate by leaving work and buying myself something pretty.

Crafty...
I then decided I would whip up some pajama pants for my nephews for their birthdays. Since they both love Cars (and I couldn't find any Buzz Lightyear material) it was pretty easy. And with the leftover fabric I decided Tara's little boy, Howie, (who loves Cars as well) deserved something too. This is his pair and from what I heard I am now his favorite person ever!
I also made some St Patrick's day pajama's for the nephews, but didn't get a picture. And Stinky Pete chose Tinkerbell for her pj's (although I only finished them last weekend).
And lastly, I have officially finished knitting one pair of socks. They aren't the most attractive things, but they are done and I can announce that I know how to knit socks. Which really is huge, because before now I've only knit one sock - not a pair - and I refused to do the other because I was so annoyed with the first one. I did knit some toddler socks, but they weren't a pair because the pattern suggested using a different color for each sock so I didn't mix them up while knitting. The problem with that is I never knit another set of the random socks. And don't let the knitting world fool you - socks are HARD! And if I hadn't found this book I don't think I would have attempted socks again.

Mirrors
Anyway, first of all, the place was packed. And of course there are the random idiots that drive up and down the aisles thinking they will find some magical parking spot. Hello, nobody else parked there because it sucked and you can't see the screen - but keep trying and annoying the rest of us with your car lights while we are trying to enjoy the movie.
And then you have the smokers. I have made this rant before, but I still hate trying to enjoy myself and then being blasted with a mouthful of smoke. It just isn't fun for anyone!
But the best is the idea that going to the drive-in gives people free reign to where whatever they want. Children in pajamas is one thing, parents in pajamas is an entirely different story. I'm all for a good pair of lounge pants, but when your pants are from the late 90's (I know this because they are so worn out you probably should have thrown them away at least five years ago) and are covered with The Simpson's characters, you place yourself in the position to be mocked. So I will continue to mock you as long as I feel necessary.
And next time you decide to leave the house, please check the mirror and make sure everything is color-coordinated. Wouldn't want you to miss-match or anything.

Eighty
I happen to be his only granddaughter, so that has always given me an advantage with him. I never like to admit I am spoiled, but I definitely was the favorite. The best memory I have of my grandpa was being young and standing on his toes while we danced around. All my life he worked hard and wore khaki - khaki shirts and khaki pants (I'm sure he would have worn khaki shoes if he found some!)
In the last couple of years he has slowed down a lot, but he still seems to do more than expected. He has a fabulous garden and has made a ton of wooden cars, trains, and trucks.
He has always been a quiet man and true to form only requested a barbecue in the backyard to celebrate this momentous occasion.

Mmmm..... meatballs!
The game was actually really good and I spent almost the entire time paying attention rather than people watching. They won - which really is all that matters in the end!
Then Aaron and I went to get some mmmm..... meatballs. We've been talking about Moochies meatballs for weeks and finally found the time to go. The sandwich was HUGE (but I didn't spill one drop on my shirt - yeah me!) and delicious. Aaron went against everything and ordered a Philly Cheesesteak. He loved it, but knew he would regret missing out on the meatballs.... You know they were first introduced to the world in 32AD by Jesus (according to the world of Aaron).
