Traveling Salesman...

I've had the privilege to go on more road trips for work lately. Which I have to say really was somewhat of a privilege since my only co-worker is on medical leave for five weeks. (You thought I complained about being banished to the basement before, don't get me started on being banished ALONE! It is beyond torture... the maintenance men had to check on me to make sure I wasn't dead - it could happen, I work with crazies).

Anyway, I went to Vernal (which is ironic because I used to tell my old roommate, Tricia, that I would never visit Vernal even if my life depended on it, but since they're paying me (not much) I have to go) and to St George in the same week. Then the next week I went to Ogden and Manti. And this doesn't include all the random places I went throughout the Salt Lake Valley.

This picture was on the drive over to Vernal and it really was quite beautiful (although my quick camera action from the car doesn't do it justice). So really this reflects the drive and not the dreaded town.....

Two.....Five!

Eugene turned two today (4/28). I'm not sure he gets the whole birthday thing, but he is happy about getting presents. His party was last night with a Buzz Lightyear cake (of course!) During the Happy Birthday song, everyone said "he's one, two" and Eugene then yelled, five. Hilarious!

He was definitely happy to see the "Cars" cars grandma and I got him. He exclaimed, Lightning McQueen, and then instantly asked his dad to open them. He got tons of gifts - mostly revolving around Buzz, Cars, or guns. He was a very happy little boy!

Red-Headed (Step) Child

I have a new niece. It is good we are finally getting some more girls around here. Stinky Pete has been outnumbered for many, many years. At first she was so excited to get a girl cousin, but then when I told her that she won't be the favorite anymore she was quite upset. Then she announced that she will always be the favorite, so it didn't matter. It is true, Stinky Pete, will always be my favorite..... and the worst part is she knows it!

Anyway, back to the new baby. Here's all the detail on her. And here's a few pictures I was able to get. I'm still not sure who she looks like, so maybe the red-headed "step" child part is accurate?! (And really I don't see any red hair, just dark blonde.... or light brown).

Tulips

My mom had her glorious 55th birthday (good thing she doesn't read this!) last Friday. And to celebrate properly we went to lunch.
We also did a little wandering around the Tulip Festival. We didn't pay to wander the entire grounds (it was $10 per person - too steep for our budget!) but saw enough to take some fantastic pictures.

Chris and The Pickle thought it would be fabulous fun to roll down this big hill. They seemed to be ok, just the thought makes my stomach turn. All that rolling makes me nauseous!

Formal Where?

Going to the theater in Utah is a sight to behold. Now, I'm not complaining about the show or the theater or anything in regards to the production. (The show was AMAZING! I recommend it to everyone - go now, buy tickets!) My complaints have to do with the patrons of the fine arts in this here state.

Here were some of my sightings.....
Hawaiian Shirt and jeans (just because it buttons up the front doesn't mean you are "dressed up")
Scrubs (I've been to the hospital and know what ends up on these, they should NEVER be worn to a formal event)
Cargo pants and high heels - still not sure what this woman was thinking
And my favorite of all, a flannel shirt/jacket, worn jeans, and tennis shoes. I'm sure this was his "nice" outfit.
I also saw a woman stretching in the aisle. I'm thinking she may have been preparing to run home afterwards.

On the positive side, I had an fantasic seat (A you are still the shiznittiest!) It was one of those random seats on the end of an aisle (if there was a wheelchair it would have been there instead of me). Best thing was I didn't have anyone in front of me so I could stretch my legs and see everything. (Although I did have a wheelchair lady behind me who was a deep breather, seriously thought about screaming at her, but decided to be nice... look at me being all good and stuff). And it was only six rows from the stage - I could have been spit on by the actors (I wasn't, which is good because that would have been gross... and cool in a weird twisted way - I wonder if it would have been green spit from Elphaba?!)

I also got a free water - and we all know how I love free stuff. I had every intention of paying, then some random man handed me a complimentary water pass. I gushed thanks as he just wandered away without a care in the world.

Too much of a good thing

Since we hadn't seemed to spend enough time playing with the California visitors, we made one last trip to play Miniature Golf then get ice cream. Because who doesn't love mini golf and Leatherby's?!

The mini golf was a little white trashy but we had fun (and A got us in free, so we didn't want to complain). Besides, they had bumper cars, and anytime we can slam into each other all in the name of fun and the boys can ride a carousel, there were smiles all around.

Oh, and the peanut butter cup ice cream sundae was delicious! (Even if I did manage to spill on my white pants..... oh pants, oh pants!)

Nostalgic....

So a one of my favorite authors/bloggers Jennsylvania has been spending the last couple of blogs reliving the 80's. And she is posting glorious pictures of people in their fabulous 80's attire. I have been sitting at work laughing my head off at the silliness of it all..... or maybe the realization that I dressed like that too. (Day-Glo socks were awesome and one of these days they will return and I will love it --and maybe I saved one pair of hot pink socks just to be prepared - it could happen.... look at all those stir-up pants floating around).

Anyway, with all the laughing, all the happy memories came flooding back..... Especially my absolute LOVE for Elizabeth Shue and the beautiful black dress she wore (that I wanted so badly - and still secretly love, don't judge me!) in the opening scene of Adventures in Babysitting (well he walked up to me and asked me if I wanted to dance......). I remember she had THE coolest job ever!

The 80's were the best time ever (Baby Ruth?!) - including my awesome hair. Seriously I had some volume and height back then, what happened?!

Photo Op

With all the hustle and bustle of family being in town, my mom decided to have a little BBQ (consisting of large amounts of people - the majority being my siblings) so everyone could visit. Again we enjoyed frog's eyes, burgers, and three cakes.... including picnic cake, delicious!

The boys fought over toys, The Pickle cried at everything, Boogers yelled and hit, Eugene pouted, and the adults sat around and laughed at them.

We were able to get a quick family shot, since our last one was a year ago in Boulder.

(Sorry Bubbles's face is greyed out. He isn't "officially" part of the family so we can't post pictures of him yet).

Hiding

Eugene's favorite thing to do is climb into the cabinet and close the door and hide. Too bad he did it one too many times and ended up breaking the door off. (Worst is that it is a brand new cabinet, and his dad was totally pissed off!)

Taking Turns...

Last week my brother and his family came to visit from sunny California. And since K finished his basement recently I decided K should have a party.

We had a nice little BBQ, complete with frog's eyes and cake.... yum!

And then some (which didn't include me since K felt like I sucked at every instrument and wouldn't let me play) enjoyed several hours of RockBand.

Boogers and Eugene played with the toys and we quickly learned that sharing is not something they choose to participate in. Boogers would hold onto a toy and refuse to allow Eugene to play with it. It ended up that Boogers would pull at the toy to the point that Eugene would be running in circles and eventually fall down.

The best part was when they were fighting over the large stuffed Winnie the Pooh. Eugene literally laid on top of it so Boogers couldn't get it. Finally Boogers won and proceeded to climb into the miniature playpen and enjoy his victory. Eugene then decided he might as well play along and climbed right in with him. It was hilarious!

Not Funny!

I know it is April Fool's Day and all, but the weather gods are not my friends today with this stupid joke they played.....

And this picture was taken when it had cleared up a lot. (After I had swore several times at stupid drivers, gotten the bottoms of my pants soaked because I'm so damn short, and froze my toes off because I wore clogs - without socks - again. And no, apparently I don't learn my lesson!!!)

It IS April, and I want to wear my sandals (I got new ones for my birthday and haven't even been able to wear them. Walking around the house in them just isn't the same!)
