It has been SO warm in Salt Lake for the past couple of weeks. I have slowly started getting out my slip-on shoes and going without socks.... and I have loved it. In my mind it is spring and I keep willing the Weather People to go along with me.
Well, today they played a big, fat, stupid joke on me and made it snow. Luckily after pulling out of the garage (at 7:00am - I hate this job!) I realized the rain was pretty heavy, so I pulled back in and went to get my winter coat. But I didn't change my shoes - yep, had on some of those glorious clogs without socks.
By the time I picked up the rental car huge flakes were flying. Things were getting worse by the minute....
I still thought I would be ok because I only had one visit in Provo (actually up Provo Canyon) and it was still early in the storm. NOPE! After finding the house (and almost sliding to my death along the highway) I got stuck in the foot and a half of fresh powder - in the dumb rental car.
So I hauled my sockless self out and started digging the car out. After fifteen minutes of uselessness, the grandfather (who had also gotten stuck further up the snow-covered driveway) said I could head inside and he would continue to try and clear the snow.
Thirty minutes later, the snow was somewhat cleared but I was still stuck. Just for future reference, using a window scraper to try and dig yourself out of the snow doesn't really work. Another 20 minutes later and some much needed pushing from the grandpa and I was on my way.
I think I may have ended up with frostbite on my poor toes.... Guess I had better pull back out the winter boots - stupid Weather People!
