Who's watching this kid?!

Barb had to go to Youth Conference, so that left grandma in charge of Stinky Pete and Eugene. After one day, she was wiped out (and she still had two more days to go).
Eugene is a handful to say the least. He is very busy and wants to be into everything - especially things Stinky Pete is doing. So when she started coloring with markers, he obviously wanted to join in. And he is persistent enough to get what he wants....

I blame it all on his father who should have been watching him more closely :)

Boogers

Boogers came to town this week. And he seems to remember me, which is always a good sign. He did give me a big smile when he saw me, then high-tailed it back to his mom - but in the process fell against the chair. So then he was upset and crying and avoided me for awhile.

But the fall wasn't my fault, neither was the tumble down the stairs, or the crash on the walk - seriously, this kid seems to be a klutz :)

He loves it when I eat loudly, or make sounds whenever he does something. I think he just likes to know I am paying attention. And then he gets that silly grin on his face and continues to do random things just to make sure I notice.

Driving

So, this new job of mine consists of lots of driving. I cover cases for the entire state. And since nothing seems to go wrong in Salt Lake Valley, that leaves me traveling to the other fun towns along the Wasatch Front - Ogden and Provo. Well, anyone that knows me well, would realize the hell this brings to my life. Odgen has always been the butt crack of Utah in my book. I have yet to find anything good about that town. And I have cursed the Utah County Line on numerous occasions.
Well, I was proven correctly about these two fabulous towns this week. --Part of the blame needs to be placed on the stupid workers that referred the information to me and didn't provide correct information. Seriously, do they think I just have all the time in the world to traipse around the state looking for their kids?!--
Anyway, I think for the whole of my adult life (and possibly longer) there has been construction through Ogden and Provo. This was proven correctly in my traveling this week. Here's the real issue I had with the construction - narrow lanes for A LOT of miles (really I don't know distances, so it isn't worth it to guess) and wide loads. Seriously, if you have a wide load get off the skinny freeway and allow the rest of us to speed along hoping not to get a "fines double in construction" speeding ticket. Needless to say, a lot of bad words came out of my mouth!

Booties

Well, my frustration was calmed and I was able to knit these cute little booties up in an afternoon for Lisa's baby. She's the one lucky girl having a boy, and hers is coming the quickest. In the end they were a totally easy pattern (which I got from the Stitch 'n Bitch page a day calendar 2008)and I think they will end up being the same ones I knit for the other girls, just in white with pink ribbons.

And, Tara's little Mary Jane booties still are shoved to the bottom of the knitting bag. Hey, I have until September....

Babies....

Tara's having a baby! Which means my knitting needs are on high alert. I LOVE making booties - especially for girls! Boy booties aren't nearly as cute and generally don't get worn. I have been searching high and low for the perfect booties pattern. Then Tara asked about mary jane booties. It just so happened I already have a pattern for them, I've just never made them. (Don't get me wrong, I love my nephews, but it sure would've made my knitting life easier if they had turned out to be girls).
Since I'm living in the one room shack in St George, most of my knitting supplies are in storage at my parents house. I do have some basic stuff and my random WIP, but not the stash I'm used to. Last time I was home I found the pattern, the needles, and any other thing I may need. Too bad as soon as I did a gauge swatch I realized I needed a bigger size needle - which I didn't have. So I made the trip to the store to buy a new set (although I'm positive I have two pairs of the same size in storage). But by this time I was frustrated, so I haven't done anything more on them.
My good intentions of getting them knit before moving probably won't happen - unless I get some big urge to sit down and finish them in the next five days. Hey, it could happen....

Moving on Up!

Well, I'm moving out of 'old' St George. This brings some mixed emotions. Really, the weather is extremely enjoyable - even the heat of summer is ok with me. I definitely have gotten used to no snow and will not be looking forward to the next winter and driving. But I never had intentions of staying in St George past graduate school. And I've been finished with that for a month now.
It is sad to say, but I will miss my co-workers in St George. They have given me a lot of challenges, but in the end they truly are amazing people. It has been great to see how they do things in the south and how they aren't even going to listen to my "salt lake ways!" In the end they embraced me and shared their lives with me.
My new job should bring a much needed change, but I'm not sure it will be the dream job I have been waiting for. At least it will bring a raise - which I feel I have deserved for years now. Seriously, after serving the State for almost seven years it is about time I got a raise!
Now begins the packing. At least my apartment is about an 1/8 the size of my last residence, so really it shouldn't take me long. Still the dread is there.....
